Regarding LeBron, Bosh, and Wade forming a new Miami super team like the Celtics and the way the Lakers stole Paul Gasol from Memphis via Jerry West's retirement gift as the outgoing Memphis GM, the owners need to incorporate what the NFL did a few years ago to STOP this bull-shxt of screwing the fans of small market teams. It's called FRANCHISING your best players. In any given year, any potential FREE AGENT can be given the FRANCHISE TAG:

Exclusive: Player cannot negotiate with other teams and his salary is the greater of 1) 120% of previous year's salary or 2) average salary of the top 5 players playing the same position from the current year.

Non-exclusive: Salary terms are the same except it's the average of the top 5 players from the previous year. Player can negotiate with other teams but current team reserves the right to match the offer. If it doesn't match the offer, it receives two first-round draft picks.

With this simple process, small market teams like Cleveland and Toronto and Utah and Phoenix could have saved their NBA Franchises from unscrupulous NBA superstars and their filthy rich agents. This would put an immediate stop to the BS that's going on with NBA superstars joining up to form super-teams in the bigger markets like Boston, LA, NY, and now Miami.

It'd also help the Pacers retain the 'rights' to Granger, George, Lance, Hibbert, as we build up our team via the draft. If the owners don't incorporate the FRANCHISE TAG in the next CBA, their is NO way that we can stop the big market teams with aging players like the Celtics, Spurs, Mavs, and even the Lakers from raping the small market teams of their young talent base to reload/rebuild their own teams more quickly.

Meanwhile, Dan Gilbert is left holding the bag because LBJ held the Cavs hostage until every free agent worth a cr*p had already signed elsewhere.

If James had been up front with Cleveland management instead of waiting until the last minute to orchastrate the ESPN sponsored dog-and-pony show, at least his choice would have seemed more like a business decision and less like a slap in the face to the city, the owner, the team, and it's fans.

Don't forget, it was LeBron who packed it in during the playoffs, not Shaq, Jamison, or Williams.
