At the risk of belaboring the subject, sources claim Steve Nash’s back is as bad as it has ever been, and that it’s affecting his shooting. In the last 10 games, the Suns point guard has taken more than eight shots once: 8-of-16 on March 27 against the Spurs. Excluding that game, he has gone 20-of-44. That’s just under five attempts per for perhaps the league’s expert marksman, who’s playing for a mediocre team. Maybe that’s the real problem. There’s no one to help him get off, which explains why he was so peeved at management’s passive pursuit of free agent Boris Diaw.

Steve Nash strongly disputed a report that his back was as "bad as it has ever been" and said that he would like to sign a three-year deal this summer.

"It's been my best year physically from start to finish in a long time," Nash said. "Other than a little tweak (last week) against San Antonio, my back's been pretty close to 100 percent."

Nash is interested in re-signing with the Suns, though he is expected to pursue other options in free agency.

SACRAMENTO - The Suns had not seen Aaron Brooks play since they were eliminated last April and had not spoken to him since the NBA lockout began in July.

Before the Suns make a decision between signing Brooks this month and letting him become a restricted free agent in July, General Manager Lance Blanks visited Brooks in China during the close of his play in the Chinese Basketball Association finals.

The Suns remain unsettled on how to act on Brooks, although it seems doubtful that he will join a team with three point guards and play at this stage. The Suns could sign Brooks to a multiyear contract while they have exclusive negotiating rights, but that would cut into their July salary-cap flexibility for free agency.

They could let him go into free agency and still be able to match any team's offer if they elect to keep him.

"It's put us in a situation where we need to have some serious conversations, internally and potentially with Aaron, about the state of where we are and what's going to make the most sense with the organization," Blanks said. "I can't give you A or B right now, but it certainly needs to be discussed. He's a NBA-level point guard and a pretty good one. Does it make sense now or later? Those things need to be talked about, and that's a lot easier to do that when you have spent a week with a guy seeing him live in basketball games and talking to him."

Brooks' Guangdong team lost 4-1 in the finals to Stephon Marbury's Beijing team. Marbury scored 41 points in Game 5, and Brooks had 33.

"He looked like Aaron, especially in (Game 5)," Blanks said. "He had a substantial moment or two in the second half where he took over. It was virtually impossible to stay in front of him, similar to when he was here. He looked in good shape and engaged."

Blanks said it appears Brooks' ankle issues are behind him. He said Marbury's scoring in the series was not always head to head against Brooks, because American players' time is limited and the guards were cross-matched at times.

"The things Aaron was doing would translate into the NBA well," Blanks said.

Ракеты сейчас приличный ход набрали. Драгич в хорошей форме. Мне кажется Хьюстон, нам не по силам догнать. Календарь оставшихся игр у них не сложный. А вот сразу после нас у них как раз-таки в календаре двухматчевый спаринг с Денвером. Это нам на руку, при том, что сейчас тяжело заканчивается наша выездная серия, где мы можем подрастерять наробатанное... и потом, я вообще не вижу, где бы могли зацепиться в ближайшие три матча.

Даллас играет 6 матчей на выезде из последних 8. С их процентом гостевых побед, в принципе, можно на что-то расчитывать. Там давольно-таки крепкоиграющие домашние команды: Лекерс, Чикаго, Юта, Атланта. Два раза им придется пересечься с неудобным Голден Стэйт и побывать в Портленде, и тем и другим они уже проигрывали в этом сезоне. Так что, я бы сократил круг претендентов.

тоже считаю, что Хьюстон нам не догнать. Они очень хорошо выглядят сейчас (на Драгича смотреть особенно "приятно"). Денвер или Даллас - кого-то из них зацепить бы

И про Юту не стоит забывать, они идут с лишним поражением вслед за нами.
